This time of year is FULL of fun crafts, but are you looking for something that is fun AND purposeful?
This Valentine’s Day Circuit Headband is PERFECT for kids who love making cool things! The huge perk is that it also teaches them about circuits.
When my daughter saw the Rudolph Pipe Cleaner Circuit from Teach Beside Me, she wanted to light something up for Valentine’s Day. Not only did she want to “light something up”, she wanted to be able to wear it!
So, we brainstormed and came up with this adorable Valentine’s Day headband.

FOR YOUR VALENTINE’S DAY PIPE CLEANER CIRCUITÂ HEADBAND YOU WILL NEED:
1 red pipe cleaner
1 plain headband
1 red or white LED pin light
1 coin cell battery
red vinyl tape
HOW TO MAKE THE VALENTINE’S DAY PIPE CLEANER CIRCUITÂ Â HEADBAND:
Cut the pipe cleaner in half.
Shave down the pipe cleaner fuzz on all 4 ends of the pipe cleaner (I used the blade of scissors). This way the metal can make a strong connection with the battery.
Shape the pipe cleaners into heart halves.
Place the LED light at the top of the heart, where the pipe cleaners connect, and twist the metal of the pipe cleaner to the metal of the LED light. Repeat for the second wire and the second side of the pipe cleaner heart.
At the bottom of the heart, connect the bare wires to either side of the coin battery. The long side of the LED light is positive and the short side is negative. Â
Once the light has been lit, tape the pipe cleaner and battery in place.
To connect to the headband, tape around the coin battery and headband.
Enjoy!
I’d love to hear how yours turned out! Drop me a line in the comments! Â
